Overall good for the price. The valves are a bit wonky and the tuning slide moves out while playing.
Nice quality, better sound than stock mouthpiece
Great communication. On scheduled delivery. High quality product. The kid impressed with the sound.
The trumpet is nice, everything I hoped it would be. Only negative I have is the piece that wraps around the two carrying straps and closes with Velcro is already disintegrating on both the inside and outside. Took it to church to play last week and when I set the case down, I had a bunch of little pieces in my hand and on the floor that separated and came off the main part of that wrap around piece. Other than that, I’m pleased with the purchase.
I like the sound the 660 alto sax has especially at this price point. This instrument plays in tune and is a joy to play. I appreciate Jean Paul's great customer support! It's great to be able to get replacement parts if needed.
I can recommend this instrument with confidence knowing that it is a good choice for anyone who would like to play saxophone without spending thousands of dollers. Thank you Jean Paul!
Excellent product and service to client. Definitely recommend; professional soprano saxophone at entry level prices, is hard to beat but here it is for others to enjoy
This is our first trumpet and he loves it. We did a search for one that was reasonably priced, but also had a good resale value, and buy, did we hit the jackpot. Our son sounds so good.
We are more than pleased.
Its a large bore and its sound is so beautiful I recommend so much! The only thing is that its a much bigger trombone so for starters it might be harder to get adjusted too
I'm very impressed with the 10th anniversary alto by Jean Paul. It sounds amazing, feels great under the fingers, and has really good intonation! Besides looking amazing and being super responsive, it is extremely affordable! You've out done yourself, Jean Paul!
The ligature won't stay on when I attempt to put my reed on the mouthpiece. I called the Main contact number and spoke with Felipe, who sent me a play video. I sent them a video of the problem and never heard back. I have a Brand new sax that has never been played because of a ligature problem. And no one seems concerned. This is the second Horn I have bought from them and will be the last if they don't handle this situation.
Purchased the AS660 based on Dr. Wally’s review. Definitely worth its price…from the finish, to the tightness of all moving parts, the design collaboration with Dr. Wally, and most importantly, the setup that Jean Paul did. Played right out of the box first day with the stock mouthpiece (like a 4C), the stock Rico H-ligature, and the stock D’Addario Rico reed 2.0. Came with a neck strap that is padded and quite decent.
Decided to try Rovner Dark, Legere American Cut 2.25 with the stock mouthpiece. Played well to my liking. The key-work and good intonation are spot-on easy. You don’t have to fight to make this sax sing well.
Jean Paul has been in business for quite some time now, and this is their third Alto Sax offering (after the student and pro models). I like their story and the AS660 is a testament to that. Coupled with Dr. Wally’s contribution/recommendation, I do think this is a pretty well thought-of, well-made saxophone for the price they are asking. Highly recommended.
I bought one and I love this Sax. It took a while to get, but it came well tuned so worth the wait.
pretty nice saxophone, but they shipped an alto saxophone mouthpiece with it. Had to purchase a tenor Mouthpiece separately in time for my grandson's first day of school
I gave a 4 star because I was sent a silver neck receiver instead of a brass one. Customer was fine with it because he was without his horn and wanted to get back to his lessons.
I'm an intermediate player, returning to the sax after 40yrs.
I'm guilty of buying based on aesthetics sometimes: I loved the look of the silver with black keys!
But when I played it, I was delighted at the warm sound and ease of playing all notes. It's way better than the Yamaha YS475II I was renting. After 6months I'm thankful I took the chance on Jean Paul.
Having trouble getting high E and F using alternate fingurings.
This is the best student sax I've had so far. It is very well built, and is super easy to play, pretty much no effort needed at all!! I highly recommend it, and if you are still on the edge about it, check out Jeremy Trezona's review on it, the only major engineering problem he mentioned has been removed, so it gets that 10/10 rating for the mythical "perfect" student sax!
The only thing I wish they'd included is a swab kit, but those can be easily bought on the side, so not that important, I just wish they included one, they had everything else!
So, long review short, get this sax!
Good product as a professional instrument was hard to get in tune
I wish you would have sent a diagram to explain what all the keys do and where they are. The neck strap was uncomfortable and replaced for a $10.00 one that is very comfortable.I only used one of the reeds, the synthetic reed is way better. As a business you may want to upgrade the items that you send out to new customers. After all you want them to come back to shop ,don't you !!
She liked it at first but has noticed she squeaks a lot More with this one than her old rental. I’m hoping it is just an adjustment period for her mouth to learn airflow on a new mouthpiece??? Says buttons are a bit different than hers as well but that’s just a matter of getting used to new feel of them. Hoping it turns into a good investment and she continues to like it as much as she did on her old beat up, taped up, dented up rental we had!!!
My son played this saxaphone for 4 months and one of the key pads stop sealing properly. I looked on the website and they only have a 90 day warranty and only a 30 day if you dont register the instrument online. I really think the quality should be better for $1700 dollars. And I can't believe they dont have a 2 year warranty like most places. I should've looked up the warranty before purchasing, that one's on me.
It seems like it works the top part of the soprano sax but not for the majority of the soprano sax 🇺🇸
