from 1489 reviewsI recently ordered and revived the professional alto saxophone. I was surprised to receive a video of my instrument being played before it shipped. I was skeptical at first, but that first note was glorious. This sax is a huge improvement over the one I had from Eastrock. I think I’m going to stick around as a long time customer.
This is an update from my 2023 purchase. Still a great horn. I do my own repair work as there are no pros close (live in Australia). After about 400 hours on this machine, did a clean, adjust and lubricate. This involves removing all the keywork, cleaning the pads and machine. There were no light leaks and it is still in excellent regulation. Surprising. Only replaced two corks more as a personal preference. It produces good sound, high to low, soft to loud. It is a bit noisy because of the low cost pads and regulation material but zoK for this price point. The important thing is I enjoy playing it. Will put in high end pads in the next 6 months along with a cork and felt (green) setup I like. That it arrives in playing condition via DHL and a JP pro sets it up is high value.
I have been playing on the professional unlacquered model for two years now and have loved every moment of it. I played it in a paid college ensemble, and the range, depth of sound, dynamic ability, and consistency has made me a lifelong Jean Paul user. I truly cannot recommend it enough.
Playing in a college band, we swing those things around, dance, set it quickly up and down, put it through freezing and hot temperatures, and it has withstood everything. Rain or shine, the outdoor bands play and I know it is always ready for what I throw at it.
And the mouthpiece is comes with too is reliable as well. By far the best set up yet.
Congratulations. Doc and you'all make a great team.

This thing was $80?? Totally worth it. Very easy to play
We had purchased the TS-400 model in April 2024 for my 14 year old High School Freshman so that he would have his own instrument through his high school experiences. Within this same year he has accomplished many goals, such as 2025 W.Va. 2nd Chair Tenor Saxophone, 2025 West Virginia University High School Honor Bands, 2025 West Virginia Wesleyan Jazz Honor Bands, and 2024 249th Army Band All State Masterclass. And his freshman year isn't even over yet. 98% of his accomplishments is through his own dedication, hard work, etc. but the quality of instrument definitely matters. This student horn through Jean Paul has given my child wonderful and lifelong memories and the quality and sound is beyond measure for price, quality, etc. Highly recommend this instrument and Highly Recommend Jean Paul quality ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Excellent
Love it. Wish it would've come with my AS-860

Love it.Very well made.Great job
I played sax in elementary, junior high, and high school but had not touched my old sax in 50 years. Wanting to get back into it, I realized that refurbishing my old sax would be rather expensive but while it served me well in my youth, it was not a superior instrument by any means. I did a *lot* of research, watching countless video reviews, reading reviews from persons who purchased this instrument, etc., which made investing in a Jean Paul AS-400 alto an easy decision. I've had the new sax only two days and I'm quite pleased with it. The finish, fit, tone, and value are exceptional. I can well understand the dozens of reviewers who asserted how good a sax it is not just for a beginner or somebody returning to the saxophone after years, but many who claim it sounds as good or better than their much pricier alto. Already, familiar fingerings and the return of what I hope will be a good embouchure over time will make etudes and practice pieces fun. I am so glad I discovered Jean Paul and highly recommend them for high consideration when shopping for a new sax or other instrument.
Right after getting the saxophone. I had dental surgery and want be able to play until may. Did play the one time.
If you are thinking about buying a professional level tenor sax, you will not be disappointed with this horn. It feels great in your hands. Meaning, the keys are where they suppose to be and the horn is very comfortable to play. The tone is wonderful. My low b-flat key had a little light coming thru but I fixed that myself. I also had the same problem with my Selmer and that is a $5000 horn. Get yourself a good mouthpiece and this tenor will sing. I am playing on a Theo Wanne Durga mouthpiece and it makes this horn really sing from low B-flat to altissimo C. I love this horn. My Alto is a Selmer Series III Jubilee, my soprano is a Yanagisawa. I would also own Jean Paul's curved soprano but my fingers on my right hand constantly hit the bell of the horn. If it was not for that, I would not have purchased my Yanagisawa. That is how well that horn sounded and played but this review is about Jean Paul's TS860. Save yourself a lot of money and get yourself one if you are in the market for a professional level tenor sax before the price goes up. The anniversary engraving is just icing on the cake. I was not paid or given anything for this review. OH and the customer service is second to none.
It’s a great saxophone
