Is a very good trumpet

A very beautiful instrument, and while I am learning trumpet, its use is quite easy. Jean Paul, to me, put genuine efforts into making a great sounding and responsive tool! Just wish I had more time daily to practice between secular work and family obligations. My trumpet was and is worth the funds I spent in obtaining it. I've named it 'Smooth Operator'.

I love it so, getting back into playing. With this horn I'm more confident hitting notes in the upper registers. The slotting is good and solid especially the notes on top of the staff. I'm happy and will suggest Jean Paul to anyone wanting a pro level horn on a budget.

I got my TR-860S a couple of weeks ago and I'm impressed. I'm a beginner, but I'm making progress and the trumpet sounds and plays very well.
I also recently got a TS-660 tenor sax and an SS-860 soprano sax. I am very pleased with each of them. Keep up the good work!

I have 2 Jean Paul trumpets; the intermediate TR-430 and the Professional TR-860. They are both beautiful and play so well. You will enjoy their sound and the intonation.

The professional is truly exceptional; the valves are so smooth and responsive. However, I have fallen in love with the TR-430; it is SOOO pretty. It’s sales picture doesn’t do it justice.

Solid intonation and slotting, excellent valves, comfortable weight, and it looks good, too. It has a slightly more "open" feel than a Bach 37 and has a bright sound that can be warmed with the right mouthpiece. A great big band / jazz horn. I own the lacquered model.

Professional Trumpet

No complaints with the mechanical operating of the trumpet. However, the silver finish is sub-par. Buffing patterns can be seen throughout the silver finish when observing the trumpet up close. My older Selmer intermediate silver plated trumpet had a much better finish. The Finish does not in anyway affect the play-ability of the Jean Paul Trumpet. The trumpet has brilliant sound and fast moving valves. The gold accented valve caps is a nice touch along with the marvel looking valve buttons. All slides move very easily. Playing in the high registers are is easily obtained without the feeling of over-reaching.

It is a beautiful trumpet. Easy to play, valves work well, sound is good and all for a fair price. I played an Olds Ambassador in high school that was stolen. I then purchased a used Conn Director that I did not play much after high school I'm getting back to playing after 48 years and wanted something nice to play.

I have compared this horn to several others including the Bach Stradavarious, I have found very little if any difference. The tr860 is an excellent quality horn and the price is phenomenal!.

I cant wait to get a day off work so that I can enjoy playing my new Trumpet. I love the design, the sound and how the valves are so quick to respond without getting stuck. I am also glad that I went with the silver too, however, that is more of my own personal preference. I've had the pleasure of owning several other trumpets, including all of the 3 that Jean Paul has in its design and I must admit that the Jean Paul TR-860S has been the best trumpet that I have ever owned and played.

this horn is amazing, the resonance of the upper register is truly something amazing, the only complaint I really have is that the valves and slides are not the best out of Box and mine came in with some scratches on the bell, but other than that horn is great !

Perhaps it is not on the same level as a bach strad, yamaha xeno, or other pro horn, but it definitely punches above its weight class when it comes to price.

My daughter upgraded from the Tr-430. Don't get me wrong. She still uses the Tr-430 weekly. The TR-860 is a beautiful looking, playing and sounding trumpet. My daughter is in School Band, Marching Band, Pep Band and Community Band. Both trumpets serve a place and purpose. Also would like to note I have emailed the company a few times with questions. They always responded positively and quickly. My daughter loves Jean Paul Brand trumpets.

Just got my new TR-860S and am loving it. It has great intonation and a clean sound. It is also a beautiful instrument. Very well constructed and a joy to play!

The trumpet arrive on time the only complaint is that one the lower valve caps was stuck ,please inspect the instrument better before shipping to customer,also I would like to know how I can be sponsored by the company to endorse their instruments would like to try the flujelhorn

Professional Trumpet

We just got the new trumpet. Where we live the band directors and private instructors are brand snobs. They only allow expensive pro horn brands. I didn't tell them the brand. The private lesson is zoom and his teaches said it sounded like a pro concert horn. Like a Bach strad. Noticed he has having an easier time playing and his range improved. Thank you. If you ever have a pro level trombone with a Thayer valve. I want one.

I was extremely pleased with the service, and delivery. I really can't speak as an authority about the trumpet, since I'm a beginner, working out my first sounds and melodies, but it seems like a great value, and I understand that each trumpet is inspected before shipping to ensure quality. I like the trumpet and the case, and I'm pleased with the purchase.

Our 16 year old son has had the same student trumpet since 6th grade. It wasn’t cheap… but had been some what abused over the years. We thought that since he has been in the HS marching band for three years, it was time for a new trumpet. We didn’t want to spend a fortune on a Bach trumpet… so I did my research, so now you don’t have to! Sam’s Jean Paul Professional Trumpet is so great! It is beautiful to look at and the sound is outstanding! He couldn’t wait for Christmas break to be over to show it off to his band mates. I am HIGHLY recommending this beautiful instrument! Only had it for a day so far but I'm as impressed as I hoped I would be. It's a clear upgrade over the TR-430 which I also love. The valves and slides are buttery smooth, the sound is noticeable brighter than the TR-430 and I love it, it's not overly bright, I feel like play any music type with this horn.
The mouthpiece it comes with (5c) Its gorgeous and gives the horn a great and unique look. I'm more of a fan of a 7c but that's just personal preference. The only reason I wouldn't buy this horn is if you already know you want a smaller or larger bore, but if you don't know what you want, this horn is what you want, it really does it all.
Final note: there was some light scratching on the lead pipe, I think from the cloth bag and the pressure of the case on the lead pipe. This is the kind of scratching that occurs normally over time anyway, not a deal breaker at all, but it was the first thing I noticed when I pulled it out of the case.

Got this for my daughter who needed an upgrade from her 230N Student Horn.
The build quality, playability and sound of this horn is no different from ones that are 3x the cost.

I played trumpet/cornet through HS and into college. Then family and career took over and my playing took a 40 year break. I returned a couple of years ago and purchased a reasonably priced trumpet to see if I really wanted to play again. I joined a Community Band. And i practiced. While I loved my trumpet, I felt that it lacked in a few areas and was hindering my moving forward in a couple of key areas I will mention below. I purchased a Jean Paul Professional 860 trumpet due to so many good ratings about their student and intermediate models. I was excited, yet skeptical initially before having the opportunity to play my new 860 trumpet. Following are my observations:

Great: The trumpet enables me to be able to play much quieter if I choose. I felt my earlier trumpet had an easy blow, but it seemed to require more volume to generate a good, consistent tone. The Jean Paul 860 enables me to play midrange at a whisper. The trumpet's intonation through the low G to the high C above the staff (2 1/2 octaves) is solid. The trumpet doesn't achieve good tone on its own, but it is easy to achieve. I really like the Jean Paul provided 5C mouthpiece. For me, it fits the instrument perfectly and supports play through my ability range and makes articulation easy. I do use a Parduba double cup for a darker tone when wanted. The valves are fast and smooth. They arrived functioning very well. A little cleaning of the pistons and the cylinder along with oil and they are excellent. I have closely examined the trumpet for fit and finish and have not discovered any flaws. The seems/ fitting are tight, and smooth. The overall finish is consistent. All of the slides move smoothly. The professional case provided is quite nice, protective yet very light weight.
As I cleaned out the valve casings, i did notice some dark goo residue so I decided to give the horn a warm bath with a little dish soap (after disassembly of course) to ensure it was clean as a non-commercial bath could make it. The amount of additional residue was very moderate, worth doing likely for any new horn.
I do not have sufficient experience to judge the impact of the Reverse Leadpipe fitment. But, I really wanted to try a trumpet with that feature and certainly have not felt any regrets. I won't wonder for the rest of my life if that feature would have made a difference, but I didn't try it.
So RECAP: Plays easy, good intonation, fast valves, clean articulation, flawless fit and finish.

The one thing I would change or perhaps provide additional alternatives...the instrument is a very yellow brass. It looks sharp, but like most things pizazz attracts the eye. I suppose, most importantly, the finish, while flawless, doesn't look quite as deep as other horns I have. But, having a professional quality trumpet for the less than $700 price is, well, better looks don't play better...it is about how well an instrument supports its artist.

And you receive a new trumpet with warranty. Jean Paul's service in purchasing the trumpet was exceptional. I have had no need to request follow on service. I am quite pleased with my purchase and would recommend consideration of this trumpet.

Beautiful trumpet. My son has been playing it almost every day. Don’t see why spend thousands of dollars on a trumpet. Recommend to anyone looking for a quality trumpet.

Great quality instrument

When I unwrapped the TR-860 and saw the little while gloves my first thought was RIIIIIIIIGT but now I wear them EVERY time I play. The trumpet, as stated in another review here is a GEM and in between passages I like to sort of "pet' it and admire the first rate craftsmanship. I am an advanced amateur and working at hitting the upper resister in the likes of Bach Partitas. The "slotting" in this instrument is REMARKABLE. As good or better than a Yamaha XENO, which I owned for a short while until a valve stated to stick. With a Bach 3c "Megatone" mouthpiece (Paititi makes one for a WHOLE bunch less) the TR-860 simply COMES ALIVE. I believe that anyone who spends more is simply trying to participate in oneupsmanship.
