A Collaboration with Dr. Wally Wallace
We've teamed up with our close friend Dr. Wally Wallace at The Saxophone Academy, renowned for his deep expertise in the saxophone and saxophone education, to create an instrument that delivers outstanding performance at an accessible price.
Performance and Value
We designed the Academy Model 660 with one goal in mind: performance. All the hallmarks of a professional instrument combined in an incredibly affordable package.
Purity of Sound
Premium brass and minimal ribbing give the Academy Model 660 a deep, clear core with an uncanny response. The sound profile is balanced and remarkably flexible. From Bach to Bebop, the 660 is the perfect companion in developing YOUR sound concept.
Fast. Very Fast.
Blued steel needle springs and intuitive ergonomics allow for an incredibly comfortable playing experience. The action is snappy, quick, and highly satisfying. World class technique is within the reach of your metronome (and practice).
Projection in Tune
Overtones, Altissimo, and soaring over any ensemble with ease. The 660 neck combines incredible resonance while keeping the octaves well in tune. Spend more time shaping phrases and less time fighting inferior acoustics.
A Touch of Elegance
The flowering dogwood, North Carolina’s state flower, was a natural choice for the Academy Model’s bell engraving—a nod to The Saxophone Academy’s home. A quiet but striking detail, it adds to the instrument’s timeless aesthetic.
Beautiful craftsmanship on this great sounding sax .
Because of learning the (Saxophone with Dr Wally) I’m progressing very well,
at this stage in my life I believe that I will master this instrument,Jean Paul saxophone is awesome 😎
This intermediate alto sax is a great horn for the money. Well made, smooth, good intonation. I also have the pro version of the alto sax from Jean Paul. This intermediate sax comes close to the pro model.
This sax is my first wind instrument and I’m really enjoying it! Also exceeded my teacher expectations! I’m sure that my future tenor or professional saxophone, it’ll be a Jean Paul.
I like the sound the 660 alto sax has especially at this price point. This instrument plays in tune and is a joy to play. I appreciate Jean Paul's great customer support! It's great to be able to get replacement parts if needed.
I can recommend this instrument with confidence knowing that it is a good choice for anyone who would like to play saxophone without spending thousands of dollers. Thank you Jean Paul!

I pre-ordered the Jean Paul Academy 660 alto saxophone, and the entire process exceeded my expectations. Before shipping, a specialist carefully inspected and tested my instrument, even engraving a beautiful floral design that made it uniquely mine. I was also sent a personalized video showing my actual saxophone, along with a warm greeting and useful tips. This level of care and communication is rare and truly appreciated. Highly recommend Jean Paul to anyone looking for quality and heart in both product and service.

Purchased the AS660 based on Dr. Wally’s review. Definitely worth its price…from the finish, to the tightness of all moving parts, the design collaboration with Dr. Wally, and most importantly, the setup that Jean Paul did. Played right out of the box first day with the stock mouthpiece (like a 4C), the stock Rico H-ligature, and the stock D’Addario Rico reed 2.0. Came with a neck strap that is padded and quite decent.
Decided to try Rovner Dark, Legere American Cut 2.25 with the stock mouthpiece. Played well to my liking. The key-work and good intonation are spot-on easy. You don’t have to fight to make this sax sing well.
Jean Paul has been in business for quite some time now, and this is their third Alto Sax offering (after the student and pro models). I like their story and the AS660 is a testament to that. Coupled with Dr. Wally’s contribution/recommendation, I do think this is a pretty well thought-of, well-made saxophone for the price they are asking. Highly recommended.
I am very pleased with this intermediate saxophone. It is my first new sax and it has completely changed my sound and ease of playing. I was told gear couldn't do that, but because this model is so responsive and fits so well in my hands I'm able to feel a lot more comfortable and confident, which has led to a smoother and steady tone. I'm thrilled!
The whole buying experience has been great too. I was given a video of my saxophone being play tested before I received it, as well as follow ups from the team to make sure all is well. Got a great tip for fixing sticky keys and how to avoid them, which I needed in general. The product and support are the real deal. I highly recommend Jean Paul to anyone looking for an affordable option of a terrific horn.
Congratulations. Doc and you'all make a great team.
